Re-Engage: A Print Love Story

Loneliness and social isolation affect thousands of older people across the UK. In this print love story, we explore how the charity Re-engage is using print to help change that.

With a nationwide network of volunteers and range of services delivered in person, on the phone and online including regular social activity groups, telephone befriending and film clubs, Re-engage needed an easy-to-use print partner that could keep pace with their busy, ever-changing calendar of activities.

In Print Lover, they found competitive pricing to work alongside a tight charity budget, plus the flexibility and responsive support required to accommodate their unique requirements as and when they arise.

Creating Meaningful Connections

Re-engage is a charity that helps people aged 75 and over build meaningful friendships and enjoy regular social interaction. Their nationwide network brings together older people, volunteers and professional referrers to help people build a  sense of community and belonging.

Volunteers take on a variety of roles. Call companions provide regular friendly conversations over the phone, drivers make sure transport isn’t a barrier to attending in-person gatherings, while hosts and coordinators create welcoming opportunities to get together - from tea parties to singing groups.

Importantly, print plays a key role in making connections happen. Flyers, leaflets and posters help Re-engage reach older people directly and equip volunteers with useful materials for local events. Printed items can even raise awareness among those who know someone who would benefit from greater social connection - such as GPs, care workers, family members or neighbours.

Assisting Communities

With volunteers spread across the country and a constantly changing programme of local events, Re-engage needed an online print platform that was simple to navigate, flexible enough to handle smaller bespoke requirements and backed by a delivery service they could rely on.

After comparing several print providers on cost and suitability for their varied requirements, the combination of competitive pricing and flexibility made Print Lover an “absolute no-brainer” almost immediately. Placing their first orders in 2025, the charity was among our very first customers and have continued to use the Print Lover platform on a weekly basis ever since.

Of course, not everyone ordering via the online store is an expert in uploading and preparing print-ready artwork. The straightforward user experience, artwork guides and hands-on assistance from Print Lover’s dedicated support team continues to provide Re-engage with extra confidence when putting together their design templates, which a member of the charity’s in-house team usually creates via Canva.

Alongside the general ease of uploading designs, one feature has proven especially handy - multiple versions within a single order. Re-engage regularly need smaller quantities of similar materials, with slight changes depending on the location, event, audience or volunteering opportunity. Rather than treating every variation as a completely separate job - and adding another delivery cost each time - Print Lover allows multiple versions to be brought together within the same order.

This handy feature means volunteers can get print tailored to their local group, event or volunteering need, with quantities starting from around 25, while Re-engage keeps costs under control. With orders being placed as often as every week, those savings soon add up. As the team put it simply: “Prices are very good”.

Printed Possibilities

As of September 2026, more than 20,000 printed items have now been produced and delivered for Re-engage, covering everything from coffee morning posters and volunteer recruitment materials to general information leaflets and bespoke print for individual groups.

When uploaded artwork isn’t quite print-ready, the Print Lover team don’t just send it to print and hope for the best. When one design arrived with an incorrect bleed, we spotted the issue before it reached production and helped get things back on track - proactive support that Re-engage value.

“I love the fact that you quality check,” they told us, describing the Print Lover team as “really proactive”, “very responsive” and “absolutely fantastic”. Delivery has earned similar praise – described as “amazing” - with clear information and a dedicated order countdowns giving the team confidence about when their print will arrive.

Today, Re-engage try to print “absolutely everything” they can through Print Lover and are already considering more bespoke products for the future.

For Re-engage, every poster, flyer or leaflet is another way to help people discover opportunities for meaningful connection – whether that’s through a local group, volunteering or a friendly conversation.
